Wine information
Two south-facing plots go into this wine. The younger one was planted in 1983, the older and larger one in 1978. Extremely poor soil with low water capacity leads to very low yields and great concentration.
Color
Muted golden yellow.
Nose
The 2019 Riesling Buntsandstein presents itself in its youthful stage still somewhat closed. It needs air, air, air! Then it reveals itself with aromas of crumbly yellow apple and exotic notes of pineapple, mango, papaya and honeydew melon. Aromas of meadow herbs, dried lime blossom and camomile are clearly recognisable. Delicate malty and earthy hints subtly suggest themselves.
Palate
On the palate, it appears demanding, very mineral and shows clear salty hints. It shines with its acidity and an incredibly lively vein, its finish is long and it shows wonderful depth. A fantastic Riesling that gives great drinking pleasure. Very good development potential!
At this stage, be sure to decant and use large glasses.
