Info about the wine

The hand-picked grapes for this mineral Chardonnay, which was vinified specifically for the first time with the 2015 vintage, come from the approximately 0.4 ha "Bergschmallister" in the lower part of the Joiser Tannenberg, where the slate is overlaid with a lot of limestone. An ideal site for Chardonnay.

Color

Intense golden yellow with silvery reflections.

Nose

The 2019 Ried Bergschmallister Chardonnay from Jois presents itself with powerful and profound aromas of ripe mirabelle plums, vineyard peach, orange, orange zest and the finest toasted notes from ageing in small wooden barrels. All aromas flow wonderfully into each other and are perfectly framed by chalky, mineral notes and discreet hints of primer, as found in the great white Burgundies of the wine world.

Palate

The fruit is juicy and lively and is joined by wonderful apple and pear notes, as well as ginger and white pepper. Silky and finesse-rich, at the same time powerful and long-lasting - an extremely exciting wine and fantastic food companion with very good ageing potential.

Be sure not to serve it too chilled in a larger glass!
