Wine information

The 2017 Les Restanques de Pibarnon Bandol Rouge is a cuvée of 70 % Mourvèdre and 30 % Grenache. The vines are planted in an "amphitheatre" facing the sea on Triassic clay, limestone and chalk. For this wine, which tends to be drunk young, younger vines with an age of ten to 20 years are used. The fermentation of the completely destemmed berries takes about three weeks. Afterwards, the wines are stored in barrels and burgundy barrels. Pièces aged for 18 months.

Palate

On the palate the Bandol for pure bliss; for while it picks up the warm and soft notes of ripe dark fruit, there is also a cool note of crushed lime here, which provides a distinctive but absolutely fine-grained texture. This combines with an impressively fresh acidity that infuses the fruit and spice. Fragrant and lively, the Les Restanques, and at the same time one finds here the dark meatiness and earthiness of the Mourvèdre. The cuvée is perfectly tuned to be able to experience a Pibarnon even with younger vintages.
