The 2014 Remirez de Ganuza Reserva reveals strikingly powerful nuances of peat, tar and wood smoke, underlined by a subtle hint of liquorice. The interplay with oxygen brings out an explosion of fruit flavours in the form of sweet black cherries, berries and plum jam, perfectly rounding off the complex and warm character of a typical Rioja with a modern twist.

Taste
On the tongue, the olfactory experience continues, a pure juiciness and fruit sweetness is enveloped by a still youthful yet mature tannic structure and an invigorating acidity, which is found to be harmonious with the overall character of the wine. This Rioja is ideal to pair with grilled meats and stews after thorough aeration!

To develop the full aroma, it should definitely be decanted and enjoyed from a large glass.

Eating recommendations
Try it with aubergines stuffed with saffron rice and pistachios for an oriental touch. A double-roasted ribeye steak with juniper, mustard and rosemary, accompanied by crispy chips, is a great match. Or what greater pleasure is there than serving a rich lamb stew with green beans, potatoes and a touch of bacon.
