Color
In darkest purple, which hardly thins out towards the rim, the wine flaunts a core as sinister as a black hole and a density that draws streaks that make church windows pale with envy.
Nose
Sublime, gentle and yet determined.
The first nose reminds of blackberries, blueberries, black cherries and fresh cranberries. The dark fruit is softly embedded by profound spices of black tea, roasted chestnuts and smoked meat. Delightfully contrasting ethereal fresh aromas flash like menthol, literally clearing the nose to perceive the wine in full spectrum.
Palate
Something to tackle! Chubby, yet figure-hugging curvy and defined and far from fat and oversaturated.
The lascivious 2007 Gran Reserva from Remirez de Ganuza lives up to its title. Its sophisticated soft, yet grippy tannin lingers give the dark berry fruit emphasis and length. Unobtrusive yet vitalizing acidity ensures that its density does not turn into heaviness and brings the wine into perfect balance.
