Nose
Full and juicy with lots of sweet fruit, the 2016 Quinta de la Quietud Reserva presents itself on the nose. Sweet black cherries, pickled blueberries and crème de cassis make the start. This fruit cocktail is topped by noble dark chocolate and floral finesse, reminiscent of violets. Just as clearly as the charming fruit and the chocolaty hints, we encounter toasted notes reminiscent of dark tobacco, vanilla and coconut due to the previous ageing in barrique. Bay leaves and rosemary give it a fresh touch.
Palate
On the tongue, the fruit unloads with sweet and charming hints, accompanied by a great spiciness, a tremendous tannin structure and a lot of bite. You involuntarily think back to that wonderful evening when you were sitting in the vineyard, the sun was setting and François Herbrard served Iberico pork from the charcoal grill. With the barbecue season approaching, this beautiful powerhouse is best drunk slightly chilled. The balcony and my grill are already calling!
