Philippe Armenier was the first in Château-neuf-du-Pape to convert the ancient family estate Domaine de Marcoux to biodynamic cultivation in 1990/91. Although the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes soon scored 100 Parker points, this was not enough for Philippe. He was concerned with spreading biodynamics. He has long been the leading biodynamic consultant in California. The winery has been run jointly by his sisters Catherine and Sophie since 1995. Catherine, who retired in 2019, primarily looked after the vines, Sophie the cellar. Since 2014, Sophie's son Vincent Estevenin has been actively involved in all areas of the estate with passion and vision. Through many years of biodynamic care of the vineyards, careful grape selection as well as cautious work in the cellar with spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, ageing in concrete tanks, barrels and amphorae, Sophie and Vincent give their wines ravishing complexity, fascinating minerality and wonderful energy.
