In the hilly hinterland of the capital, the story of the family winery Azienda Agricola Case Alte di Giuseppe Vaccaro began in the 1950s. The village of Camporeale, with its current population of 4000, lies in the small Val di Mazara valley southeast of Palermo. There, the proud farmer Giuseppe Vaccaro recognised the potential of his farm with its excellent soils as well as the favourable climatic conditions for viticulture. He planted Catarratto and Nerello Mascalese on an experimental basis and quickly had success with his wines, which he rolled down the mountain to Palermo and sold to local trattorias. Encouraged by the ever-increasing demand, Giuseppe seized the opportunity to expand in 1963 and bought a house in the Contrada Macellarotto - the Azienda Agricola Case Alte was founded. In 1986 he had the opportunity to buy ten more hectares of land around the winery and planted new vineyards with his son Calogero. With foresight, they chose autochthonous grape varieties such as Catarratto, Grillo, Nero d'Avola and international varieties such as Syrah. From the beginning, the land was cultivated according to organic guidelines out of respect for the soil and never saw artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides.
