Out of stock

Light transparent ruby red - Boris Champy's Pommard 2019 offers notes of dark raspberries, wild strawberries and ripe plums, which combine very quickly with cocoa, a little cinnamon and the best wood. And that shows not least in the class of this Pommard.

Wine information

For this wine, Boris Champy used Pinot Noir from the En Bœuf parcel in Pommard. The parcel is located in the heights of Pommard just before Nantoux. The cane density is around 10,000 in Guyot training. Boris Champy has essentially destemmed the grapes, so there is only a small percentage of whole clusters. He has extracted gently and aged the wine over twelve months in barrels, but a part of 30 % in new wood.

Nose

Boris Champys Pommard 2019 offers notes of dark raspberries, wild strawberries and ripe plums, which combine very quickly with cocoa, a little cinnamon and best wood. On top is a hint of macerated herbs and spices like a gin infusion. Juniper is just as noticeable here as orange peel and a little cassia bark.

Palate

On the palate the Pommard already impressively accessible, but basically always remains a Pommard in its dark, slightly earthy impression. At the same time, Champy manages to make the Pinot Noir seem charming and nonchalant - quite contrary to what is often the case with Pommard so typical rusticity. This is a balanced, almost elegant wine with a sweet core, lively acidity and silky tannins. Champy knows perfectly how to find the right wood for his wines. And this is not least reflected in the class of this Pommard.
