I
Info:
Varietal Aligoté aged on the skins for 12 months.
Color:
Golden yellow, bright reflections.
Nose:
For me, Aligoté always stands for a clear, puristic type of wine. Usually leaner and somewhat lighter than the Chardonnay of the same domaine. The wines usually present themselves with a lot of traction and a certain nonchalance. Often totally underestimated.
This nose also reminds me of the particularly good examples of this grape variety. I find caramelised quince, spiced bread and butter biscuit. A fine note of saffron. The 12 months of maceration show up very restrained here in color and aroma. Discreetly, just as I have stored Aligoté. Also candied exotic fruits like pineapple and mango open up to me.
Palate:
A wonderful tannin comes into play on the palate. These light bitter materials make themselves pleasantly wide. The aromatics of spice bread and candied pineapple come out again. The tannin has a drying and drinking effect. The finish is clean and clear. Almost slender. In the aftertaste the spice bread and saffron opens up again.
