Weinberghof Fritsch is one of the lighthouse wineries in Wagramer. The approximately 25 hectares of vines are cultivated exclusively according to biodynamic guidelines to ensure the greatest possible expression of terroir and origin. The Wagram is the longest elevation in Austria and is strongly characterised by loess, which predestines it as an origin for first-class Grüner Veltliner. Karl Fritsch is a member of the winegrowers' association Respekt biodyn.
The Ruppertsthaler Pinot Noir comes from the Exlberg and is classified as a Riedenwein. The vines have an average age of 25 years and grow at 220 m above sea level on loess soils. The grapes are exclusively harvested by hand and ferment spontaneously in used barriques and 500-litre barrels, where they then mature for 12 months.
Color
Transparent, bright ruby red.
Nose
Cascades of fully ripe raspberries and a little raspberry juice outline the first nose of the 2020 Ruppertsthaler Pinot Noir and promise a light-hearted, fruity drink. Ripe sweet cherries follow, as well as delicate herbal notes and a touch of dark, tart aromas in the direction of bitter chocolate. Balanced and well-balanced, it radiates blissful fruit from the goblet.
Mouth
Super juicy on the palate, the cherries and raspberries also shine here, characterising it as a light-footed and carefree Pinot. The transparent fruit is fuelled by a fresh, jovial arc of acidity and contoured by tartly animating, finely structured tannins. Clear as a bell and unmistakable for everyone, the Ruppertsthaler is the ideal Pinot Noir for Monday to Friday.
