Albert Mann Pinot Noir Grand P 2015
Alsace, 13.5 %
Color
rich cherry-red
Nose
Albert Mann's Pinots have been standing out from the not seldom trivial field of Alsatian Pinots for years. He offers a class all of his own, which you can also find in the 2015 Grand P from the Wintzenheimer Pfersigberg Grand Cru and its limestone-sandstone soil can be smelled from the very first moment. Ripe and sweet cherry fruit is combined with a note that reminds one of the Framboise of Jean Paul Metté, in addition there is a little smoked bacon, marzipan with chocolate coating, blood orange notes and a very fine framing wood.
Palate
The palate shows a dark fruity and extremely charming dense Pinot with a silky soft tannin as well as some notes of undergrowth, earth and chocolate crumble. The fruit is wonderfully intense and firm, further juicy and offers a great freshness supported by a fine acidity - a pure, juicy ripe and elegant Pinot.
Food recommendations by Christoph Raffelt
- Saddle of red deer with celery puree and pomegranate reduction
- Macaroni and truffles au gratin with Epoisses
- Smoked pork cheeks on lentil vegetables with raspberry vinegar
