Info

Heinrich's Pinot Noir comes from the chalky soils near the cooler forest area west of Lake Neusiedl, as well as the sun-drenched slopes on the south-eastern edge of the Parndorfer Platte with gravelly-sandy-loamy sedimentary soils. Biodynamic cultivation according to Demeter guidelines, manual harvest at the beginning of September 2021, spontaneous fermentation, with the must having one week of maceration. Then gently pressed with the basket press and matured for eight months on the natural yeast in the wooden fermentation rack.

Color

Velvety red in the glass, slightly cloudy, violet reflections.

Nose

The winery of Heike and Gernot Heinrich is hard to beat in terms of pioneering spirit and courage. In Heinrich style, the nose is initially characterised by reduction. Patience and oxygen help their wines enormously. So either bottle ageing or a carafe with a large surface would be advisable. But the reduction also has its charm, as it gives freshness as well as imposes a mysterious character on the wine. Elderberry, sour cherry as well as morello cherry and mulberry vie for supremacy. Fortunately, the fruit has a small-berried, pure expression. A fine lactic note is mixed in. Forest floor, undergrowth as well as ethereal branches and pine needles provide additional freshness and elegance. A touch of cocoa butter smoothes the waves towards harmony. Animating for those who are open and curious.

Palate

With the first sip, it conveys coolness and finesse. The fruit appears wrapped in a silky cloth. Full of elegance, dark nuances and cool elements permeate. The acidity gives it demanding peaks again and again. This promotes the drinking flow, the lightness and keeps the fruit small. The fruit presents itself very restrained, small-berried and pleasantly acidic. The ethereal spiciness is only faintly evident in the finish. Its wild, impetuous character, paired with the low alcohol of 12 % vol. make for quickly emptied glasses.
