Wine profile
The unique geography of the Heimbourg vineyards in the secondary and tertiary fractured area of Turckheim imprints each drop with its distinct charm. These microscopic parcels vary greatly in geology due to their proximity and isolated west to southwest orientation on limestone soil poor in olizocene. Perched happily atop these windswept vineyards, the Pinot grapes are remarkably similar, yet different, to that of the Rotenberg on the opposite side of the valley. This special connection to the earth gives their wines a deeper aroma and a more expressive personality that shines through in their earliest days.

Maturation
This gem of a Pinot Gris from 2016 proves that lower alcohol wines can age just as perfectly to elegant dryness.

Amazing colour
Each swirl of the glass highlights the rich, pale golden yellow colour with subtle pearlescent reflections.

Seductive nose
It welcomes you with sparkling notes of citrus, orange and lime, accentuated by the scent of apricot jam, peach pit and ripe mango. This fruit concert is finely interwoven with spicy cardamom, coriander, Laos ginger and gingerbread spices. Nuances of flint and a profound umami scent that evokes thoughts of meat broth and bacon provide a seductive depth. This is truly an exquisite wine.

Taste on the palate
Full of juiciness and remarkable pressure, it presents itself on the palate, combined with fine tannins and shapely spice. The spicy and tangy structure paired with the creamy sweetness and the salty underbelly is striking and sensual, yet seems youthful and almost unfinished. A little more patience with ageing will make this wine a multi-layered pleasure that masterfully accompanies aroma-intensive and rich dishes. At the moment, decanting and enjoying in large Burgundy glasses would be appropriate.

Alternative food recommendations
Deceptively stuffed morels with goat's cheese and fresh herbs, served with a sherry reduction dressing. Balanced game pate on a bed of lentils garnished with sultanas and caramelised hazelnuts. Crispy roast duck with bitter orange marmalade sauce and spinach ricotta gnocchi.
