Nose
Warm and cool at the same time. An ambivalent start leads us past black olives, rosemary, thyme and wet stones. The high altitudes of the Sierra de Gredos, with their high amplitudes between day and night, bring warmth and coolness at the same time. The hot, dry days provide abundant fruit and a warm character even at these altitudes. Conversely, the cool nights provide a corresponding acid structure as a contrast. Rubber abrasion, car tyres as well as ridden saddle are intense, striking nuances. The fruit varies between fig and mulberry as well as cassis, raspberry and red currant. Hints of flint, smoke and cigar box add a balsamic character. The Mediterranean accents, however, are the dominant players.
Palate
On the palate, it behaves analogously to the nose. The fruit seems warm and expansive. At the same time, it seems lighter, stonier, but above all velvety and softer. Pielago manages almost without tannin. It is neither dense nor opulent. It merely has a warm core. Its velvety appearance radiates elegance and delicacy. This contrasts with its warm centre, but this combination knows how to convince. Elegance and structure at the same time. A wine that should meet a wide audience, as it plays between worlds. Its stony, almost mineral appearance sets successful accents. The red fruits paired with the Mediterranean aromas still clearly characterise the finish.
