Bright lemon yellow, golden reflections
Nose
The 2020 Quarzit clearly presents yellow fruits and a variety of herbs. Kühn has his very own signature, which is also unmistakably evident in this Riesling. This results in a successful aroma combination of wet stones, some flint and fresh garden herbs. Lemon balm, thyme, parsley and chervil fight for dominance. A nutty tone between almond and pistachio is close behind. Mirabelles, apricots and yellow apples round it off in a fully ripe manner. Rheingau can obviously also be quite different.
Palate
On the palate, it seamlessly follows the findings of the nose. Stony and pithy. With a lot of grip and pull on the palate, it challenges the palate. At the same time, it is characterised by an incredible juiciness. Acidity and saltiness are in no way inferior to each other and duel for sensory supremacy for minutes. It is a wild dance on the tongue. Ingenious. The fruit is very mature. Nothing overbearing or loud. The reverberation is alive with citrus fruits like lime and grapefruit. But above all, the herbs like lemon balm and sage along with chamomile flowers are nailed to the palate for minutes.
