Wine information
The Riesling Hallgarten Réserve comes from the Hallgartener Hendelberg, Jungfer, Schönhell and Würzgarten sites. The vines are located at an altitude of 180 to 350 metres with phyllite slate and quartzite interspersed vineyards. After manual harvesting, gentle whole bunch pressing over several hours and spontaneous fermentation, the Riesling was aged for 22 months on the full lees in traditional large wooden barrels.
Color
light golden yellow
Nose
The Riesling Hallgarten Réserve opens with a fine hint of smoke, crushed stone and flint, which quickly combines with notes of quince, grapefruit and nectarines, but also oats, broom and salt lemon. In addition, the wine, which already seems very complex here, reminds of herbs and iodine, some mint and pepper.
Palate
The Hallgarten Réserve appears enormously dense and spicy on the palate, juicy and full of tension with a crystal-clear, crystalline acidity and a bright fruit of white peach, green and yellow apples and lots of citrus. In addition to the brilliant acidity, there is a fine tannin and silky creamy notes, which Réserve let it be charming. On the finish, this is a resting, spicy, salty and citrusy wine with great potential.
