Wine information
With a slope of about 40% in south-south-west exposure and colourful shimmering phyllite slate, this site is a special solitaire in the middle Rheingau. The vineyards reach up to 300m NHN. The high angle of inclination favours the sun's effect in spring and autumn, and reduces the intensity of radiation in high summer. This gives the vines their very own growth dynamics.
Information on the expansion
100 % Hand harvest, gentle whole cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation with the natural yeasts, 16 months on the full lees in large wooden barrels.
Color
Sparkling golden yellow with delicate green reflections
Nose
The 2020 Hallgarten Hendelberg Erste Lage presents itself open and aromatic with clear fruit reminiscent of mirabelle, vineyard peach, lime, orange and exotic hints such as mango and passion fruit. A herbaceous and floral scent is clearly recognisable, reminiscent of lemon balm, elderflower and verbena.
Palate
On the palate, one encounters a lot of fresh citrus fruit, an accentuated and pleasantly demanding acidity, which interacts nicely with its sweetness. It is already wonderfully stimulating to drink, also because of its moderate alcohol of only 10Vol%, but one should not underestimate its fantastic maturity and development potential, there is still more to come!
Be sure to ventilate!
