Wine information
This vineyard is the closest to the old basalt quarry. It has only a small soil layer above the rocky subsoil, which slopes slightly to the north. High ripeness and low yields give substance, the proportionate ageing in used oak barrels promotes structure and a proportion of grapes in fermentation keeps the wine compact. The harvest was done by hand.
1117 bottles 0,75l, 60 Magnum, 12 Double Magnum, 6 Imperial.
Color
Muted golden yellow.
Nose
Under the yeasty cloak, the fruity and herbal aromas only reveal themselves after several hours of aeration, but then all the more beautiful and present. Besides apple, quince and pear, there are impressions of camomile, lemongrass, verbena and the scent of toasted almonds and freshly churned butter. One wants to immerse oneself in this wine, even sink into it.
Palate
After dipping into the 2019 Pinot Blanc Basalt, one enjoys its precise freshness and lively structure. No less beguiling are its fine tannin and the striking spiciness it exudes in the long finish. A wine that really grabs you and that will gain even more with further maturity. Excellent food companion, especially with dishes with earthy and nutty influences.
