The fragrant pomace of the thick-skinned frappato gave Arianna Occhipinti the idea of distilling a grappa from it according to the northern Italian model. Master distiller Giovanni La Faucia from Distilleria Giovi in Valdina near Messina has been doing this work ever since and produces this grappa from the marc of the house vineyard Fossa di Lupo. Distilled in the pot still process without added sugar, it retains the pure expression of the marc and the floral characteristics of the frappato. The recommended serving temperature is 10°C.
Color
Water clear.
Nose
In addition to the typical marc notes of the 2021 Grappa di Frappato by Arianna Occhipinti, it enchants the nose with its floral-red-fruity bouquet. White and violet flowers in the top note are fruity underpinned by dark blackberry and strawberry aromas, which make it appear delicate and fragrant despite its 45%.
Mouth
The impression of the nose continues on the palate. It can even be enjoyed at room temperature without significant resistance to sipping, so fragrant and fine is the Grappa di Frappato. Mild aromas of beeswax and raspberry leaves once again mingle with small wild strawberries with slightly citrusy notes of oranges and the distinctive yeasty marc note to create an absolutely consensual schnapps for any occasion.
