Sparkling lemon yellow


What a grandiose nose. The old Xarel-lo vines are at their best right now. Carried by a ripe yellow fruit with lots of herbal spice. Besides apricots and honeydew melon, white currants can also be found. Dried stone fruit is discreetly in the background. Dried herbs like marjoram and thyme as well as white pepper leave clear traces. Apricot tart, almond brittle and a little yeast plait deliver a great finish on the nose.


On the palate, the 2019 Nun is sublime and generous. A monument of wine that literally bites on the palate for minutes. The interplay of stony, cool minerality with fine acidity is magnificent. Sparse and yet juicy at the same time. Expansive from sip to sip, but always carried by an insane elegance and length. The nuances of yeast alternate with the crystal-clear chalky minerality. A very fine tannin adds another dimension on the palate. In the finish, the yellow aromas come to the fore again with a light smoky touch. This has real potential to be a great wine. Enric Soler could become a very rare and sought-after commodity with a wine like Nun, even in a global context. The signs are very good.
