Out of stock

The sweet, fruity aromas of the nose make way for a rich, full wine that expands in the mouth with a lot of thrust and vigour. It is joined by some lime zest and a spiciness that I would relate to the soil of the Wachau.

Sparkling golden yellow, bright reflections

Nose

The first nose holds completely unexpected aromas. A little saffron, but also curry as well as dried mountain herbs. Slowly, a ripe vineyard peach spreads. This is joined by some lime zest and a spiciness that I would relate to the soil of the Wachau. There's also a bit of honey and toasted almond developing. In combination, it inevitably makes you think of bee sting.

Palate

From the first sip, this wine captivates you. The sweet, fruity aromas of the nose make way for a rich, full-bodied wine that expands in the mouth with a lot of thrust and emphasis. This Smaragd is not lush in the process, but extremely cool and straightforward. The phenolic structure on the palate is exemplary. Discreet bitterness is buffered by the delicate melting. In the finish, a decent minerality as well as a slight fruit sweetness can be diagnosed. The wine always remains juicy and underpinned by a pleasant acidity.

Food recommendations from Marian Henß

  • Open Raviolo with Pumpkin & Pecan
  • Veal medallions with mushroom cream sauce and spaetzle
