The stony-porous clay slate soils of Nierstein are the basis of the terroir as the tangible origin of this local wine. The Nierstein Riesling shines with extract-rich fruit, open structure and taut tension with the greatest possible finesse and vibration.
Color
Bright straw yellow, radiant and clear.
Nose
With a rich nose, the Niersteiner Ortsriesling shows its usual generosity and open-heartedness. Ripe pome fruits like apples and fully ripe pears as well as yellow stone fruits like peaches are spicily balanced by fine herbal notes of lemon thyme, lemon balm and tarragon. Underneath lies the distinctive minerality of Nierstein.
Mouth
The 2020 Nierstein Riesling from Kühlung-Gillot is super-juicy with a rich extract and contouring, tart phenolics on the nose. With a viscous feel and good grip on the palate, it oscillates between a creamy melt and salty minerality. The expansive fruit floats above it, and the long, taut acidity lends it freshness, tension and a proper drinking pull.
