Wine information

The NegreDeNegres, so a Noir de Noirs, is a cuvée of Garnacha tinta, Cariñena and Syrah, all of which grow in the Clos del Portal. The vines are 20 to 65 years old and stand on Llicorella soils at 450 to 500 meters above sea level. The grapes were harvested between the second week of September and the second week of October. The wine was then aged in barrels and tonneaux made of French wood.

Nose

The NegreDeNegres is the estate wine for Alfredo Arribas and thus the entry. But what an entry is that! Here you have the core of the Priorat directly in the glass. It is this density and concentration that can already be felt in the aroma, which is so characteristic and combines with cool stony notes. Black cherries, dark spice tobacco, cherry pits, elderberries and just ripened blackberries go along with raw beef, thyme, allspice and an overtone of violets and lavender.

Mouth

On the palate, too, this is a wine that oscillates between ripe dark fruit notes and stony spicy aromas. In fact, however, one thinks to perceive more cool and mineral elements than warm ones. And so here the aforementioned cherries, blackberries and elderberries combine with a bit of crisp plum. You pick up a hint of those meaty notes, a little more of the thyme and plenty of stone to go with it. This is polished and clean, fine and elegant with a touch of wood but nothing more. Instead, the special minerality of the black slate soil is particularly effective here.
