Wine information

The naked rosé is a variant of 100 % Blaufränkisch. It comes from slopes of the Leithagebirge in Winden and Breitenbrunn that are exposed to the southeast and slope towards Lake Neusiedl. The sites are characterised by the fossil-rich limestone and calcareous sandstone typical of the area as well as by mica slate. The grapes were harvested by hand in September, partly destemmed and partly pressed as whole clusters after standing for a few hours. After fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the Blaufränkisch was aged for five months on the full lees in clay amphorae and bottled unfiltered with minimal use of sulphur.

Color

Coral colours with slight turbidity

Nose

This Rosé shows a completely independent character from the first moment. It smells of barberries, red currants, cranberries, pink grapefruit and a hint of rhubarb, accompanied by herbs, stone and petrichor, pink pepper and warm yeast dough.

Palate

On the palate, the fully fermented wine appears dry, firm and at the same time juicy with a light velvety tannin. The acidity is present, lively, but also pleasantly silky. Thus the naked rosé as absolutely seductive and downright lascivious. It works as a thirst quencher in summer as well as with light cuisine.

Food recommendations by Christoph Raffelt

  • Flamed salmon sashimi with apple, blood orange vinaigrette and sprouts
  • Fresh goat cheese with grilled nectarines, rosemary and pine nuts
  • Roasted cauliflower with harissa, labneh and hazelnut dukkah
