Wine information
Muskat grape varieties such as Muskat Ottonel are commonly used on Lake Neusiedl to produce sweet wines. But Heinz Velich wanted something aromatic and completely dry. So he let the Muskat mature for a long time and then fermented it completely. Then he aged it in stainless steel.
Color
light to medium golden yellow
Nose
With the Muscat Ottonel you quickly get into a good mood, if you weren't already in one. It ignites a firework display with notes of grapefruit including zest, roses and lychee, pineapple, grapes and nutmeg with a little overripe pear and white tea.
Palate
On the palate the Muscat Ottonel for juice and an astonishing amount of power, for a fizzing acidity and, despite the power and depth, for casual cheerfulness. This is brought about by the successful mix of fine spice, lots of aroma and slight saltiness in the finish. But the wine does not only work very well solo, but also with a slightly spicy cuisine with flavours from South or Central America as well as from Vietnam or Thailand.
