Info

In 2021, Tement produced crystal-clear wines from perfect grapes. The Tement family sees a vintage that will be talked about for a long time to come.

A late budbreak was followed by rather cool and wet weather in April and May. Moderate early summer with late flowering. July and August were very grateful months to let nature catch up. Autumn then showed dry and warm conditions that served perfectly for harvesting.

The Morillon is grown on shell limestone and lime marl soils. The vines vary in age from 10 to 40 years.

After spontaneous fermentation, the various batches are aged for 18 to 24 months on the fine lees in large, neutral oak barrels.

Color

Bright, light straw yellow, green reflexes

Nose

The nose clearly supports the information on the label. Morillon, or Chardonnay, grown on shell limestone soils in southern Styria. Tement's style, which is based above all on patience and time, makes a due contribution to this piece of quality.

Its linear, filigree style sets standards in this price category. A fine, slightly smoky spiciness accompanies it. The yeasty character is well dosed and yet it takes it to another level of complexity.

The fine yellow fruit is reminiscent of grilled pineapple, fresh pineapple juice and mirabelles. White peach and a little pear provide it with local nuances and extra freshness. A little fennel and roasted coriander seeds are subtly perceptible. Wheat grass, chervil and sage give it an ethereal, cooling hit.

Palate

On the palate, it proves directly that it seamlessly continues all these impressions. It seems cool and slightly roughens the tongue. This directly opens the pores for the full absorption of all sensory impressions and aromas. Dense in its core and yet with a high drinking flow and fun factor. Its stony, linear, almost salty character comes into its own. The fruit is well dosed and moderate. Its fine herbal spiciness dominates the reverberation for minutes.
