This also means that the wine lies on its lees for almost two years after spontaneous fermentation, in Stockinger's barrels and tonneaux. Les Narvaux is infused with this acidity and with the deep minerality of the chalky site, which had been carried to the top by the ancient vines and now shapes the salty finish.

Wine information

Rémi Jobards Meursault »Les Narvaux" comes from the Village vineyard of the same name in the northwest of the Meursault district. Jobard owns a 0.67 hectare parcel with 50 to 70 year-old vines at 300 meters above sea level in the 13.44 hectare vineyard. The site partially shows bare limestone with almost no soil overlay. Les Narvaux is probably Meursault's most famous village vineyard and certainly plays on Premier Cru level.

The Meursault »Les Narvaux" is vinified at Rémi Jobard with the same precision as all his wines. This also means that after spontaneous fermentation, the wine sits on its lees for almost two years, in Stockinger barrels and tonneaux.

Color

light to medium straw yellow

Nose

The Les Narvaux is a Meursault Village of great beauty and clarity. It offers a whole wave of white, green and some yellow fruits at the same time, but always remains reserved in an elegant way. Green pears and yellow apples, lemons and maybe a lime can be found here as well as pure citrus. The fruit combines with aromatics reminiscent of very lightly toasted almonds and hazelnuts, and also with a slightly creamy note reminiscent of lemon curd. Over it there is a breath of white blossoms and laurel.

Palate

On the palate the Meursault so precise that it's a stunner. Jobard knows how to balance the incredible stoniness, chalkiness and power inherent in this site on a knife's edge. That cutting edge consists of the brilliant acidity, which may have turned out a bit silkier in 2018 than in 2017, but it is no less pure and clear. The Les Narvaux is permeated by this acidity and by the deep minerality of the chalky site, which had been transported upwards by the ancient vines and now shapes the salty finish. This is level of the finest for a Meursault Village.
