This also means that the wine lies on its lees for almost two years after spontaneous fermentation, in barrels and tonneaux from Stockinger. Yes here is sea air bundled and combined with the typical, slightly nutty notes of Meursault, which however seem almost like an accessory and are by no means the focus.

Wine information

Rémi Jobards Meursault »Genevrières" comes from the 16.48 hectare Les Genevrières site, where Jobard owns 0.64 hectares. The vines in this very mineral-rich soil are over 40 years old. Together with Les Charmes, Les Genevrières is considered to be the best vineyard besides Les Perrières. All three vineyards could easily pass as Grand Cru, above all the upper parts of the vineyards, the so called "Grand Cru". Dessus.

The Meursault »Genevrières" 1er Cru is vinified at Rémi Jobard with the same precision as all his wines. This also means that after spontaneous fermentation, the wine sits on its lees for almost two years, in Stockinger barrels and tonneaux.

Nose

»Energy!" This may not only be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Jean-Luc Picard and the Starship Voyager, but when you look into a jar of Meursault »Genevrières" 1er Cru sniffs into it. The Chardonnay virtually jumps out of the glass with a mixture of citrus zest and lime juice, grated limestone and oyster shells, chalk, smoky quartz and iodine. Yes here is sea air bundled and combined with the typical, slightly nutty notes of Meursault, but they almost seem like an accessory and are far from the focus. There is the tart, the bright, the citrusy and the so vibrantly alive. It is accompanied by the fruit of a few green apples and pears as well as pure citrus, which provides a bit of substance to this sinewy character.

Palate

Still at the very beginning of its development is this Genevrières at present. But what it promises and reveals already now is more than remarkable. The wine builds up immense pressure from the first moment. It is a powerful wine - Meursault 1er Cru from one of the best places where Chardonnay can be produced. And that's exactly what this wine does. We have lemons and limes, green pears with their peel, pure plums and a freshly cut, almost unripe vineyard peach and furthermore a little tannin. Yes, that provides for a remarkably grippy texture in this MeursaultOtherwise, it is mainly dominated by the long, tense acidity. The texture is grippy and slightly creamy, the 2018 acidity appropriately ripe but exceedingly punchy, the minerality virile like a young prince on the lookout for a bride. All of this is already starting to become elegant. It is already finesse-rich and precise. It will still become big, you don't have to worry about that. Hach, what a wine ...
