Info about the wine
"Graupert" means "wildly unkempt" in Burgenland dialect - like the vineyard where it grows completely uncut in freedom. The wine was fermented longer on the mash, vinified puristically and bottled unfiltered.
Color
What a colour! Salmon pink, with orange reflections and silvery lightening towards the rim. Clear cloudiness due to the yeast.
Nose
The nose of the 2020 Graupert is hard to grasp, this exciting wine does not fit into any pigeonhole, thank goodness. Its aromas are incredibly complex and constantly changing. Aromas of juicy apples, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, rhubarb and fragrant blossoms seem almost floating. The fruity impression is accompanied by herbal notes and a little vanilla, but also by delicate nuances reminiscent of cassis leaf, forest honey and fresh ginger. It seems pure and unadulterated and immediately awakens the desire to taste it and spend more time with it.
Palate
On the palate, it is just as pure as on the nose, with juicy fruit. Its acidity is invigorating and the fine tannic notes lend it complexity. The salty umami touch makes it so stimulating and focused at the same time that one would like to combine it with pleasure with a variety of dishes.
Decanting makes him win!
