Wine information
The Pinot Noir comes from the Maustal vineyard, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld am Main with a south and southeast exposure. The steep slope is characterised by the barren and skeleton-rich Upper Muschelkalk. The vines on this site are the oldest vines we have planted ourselves. As always at Weingut Zehnthof Luckert, the grapes are harvested by hand, followed by maceration in open fermentation tanks, spontaneous fermentation, no chaptalisation, and ageing in Burgundy barrels.
Color
medium ruby-red
Nose
The Pinot Noir Maustal opens with still slightly reductive notes, which are however quite quickly replaced by a rich ripe cherry fruit. The cherries are accompanied by dark forest berry compote, but also by sour red berries that bring freshness and a note of undergrowth, earth and flowers.
Palate
The 2018 Pinot Noir opens on the palate with the same ripe wild berry and cherry fruit, accompanied by a fine and very elegant wood spice. Added to this is the ripe, silky but very lively acidity so typical of 2018, which gives the wine the right kick and is maintained until the long finish.
