Wine information
The Silvaner comes from the Maustal vineyard, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld am Main with a south and southeast exposure. The steep slope is characterised by the barren and skeleton-rich Upper Muschelkalk. The vines for the Silvaner are the oldest vines planted by the estate itself and date from 1962 and 1963. What is special here is that it is Gelber Silvaner and not Grüner Silvaner that was planted here. As is always the case at Weingut Zehnthof Luckert, the grapes are harvested by hand, then raisined, allowed to macerate a little longer and fermented spontaneously. Luckert's wines are matured in classic double barrels made of Spessart oak.
Color
medium straw yellow
Nose
Luckerts Silvaner Maustal 2021 is an aromatically highly complex wine that alternates between yellow fruit, floral accents, earthy and slightly tobacco nuances. Peaches, mirabelles and apples mingle with verbena and some kumquat, oyster mushrooms and saffron, a hint of buttered celery and white tea. In the background, one can also perceive something mineral and stony. All in all, it seems very open and elegant.
Palate
On the palate the Silvaner Maustal At first slightly fragrant and floral, almost dance-like. But then the underlying power and minerality come around the corner with force. There is phenolic on the palate, a powerful, lively and above all polished acidity and a fine juiciness. It has bite, grip and becomes increasingly chalky and salty with air. But the wine's yellow hue ensures that the Maustal Silvaner always remains open-hearted and inviting at the same time.
