With oxygen it becomes exciting and the fruit gives way to notes of earth and stone, of Virginia tobacco and liquorice, anise and nougat. As always, the grapes are harvested by hand, crushed, allowed to macerate a little longer and fermented spontaneously.

Wine information

The Silvaner comes from the Maustal, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld with a south and southeast orientation. The steep slope is characterized by meager and skeleton-rich upper shell limestone. The vines for the Silvaner are the oldest vines we have planted ourselves. As always, the grapes are harvested by hand, the grapes are crushed, a slightly longer maceration period is allowed and the grapes are fermented spontaneously. Luckert's wines are aged in classic double barrels made of Franconian oak.

Nose

If you are looking for finesse, elegance and depth, you should give this Silvaner from the Maustal a chance. Silvaner is not everyone's cup of tea. For many, it is too loud, too spicy, too vegetable. This one is the opposite. In the fragrance almost shy with a little yellow fruit, reminiscent of old pear varieties, as well as equipped with stony spice, smoke, earth and herbs, shows here a very fine representative of this typical Franconian grape variety.

Palate

Yellow pears, pear quinces and mirabelles are also found in the taste. But fruit by no means plays the first role here. Besides, the Silvaner needs some time before it shows itself. Burgundy glasses and also a carafe do not harm this wine at the moment, on the contrary. With oxygen it becomes exciting and the fruit gives way to notes of earth and stone, Virginia tobacco and liquorice, anise and nougat. It becomes increasingly complex and, in addition, punchier on the palate. The acidity of 5.5 grams pushes the fruit aside and reveals a fine minerality. The maceration provides slightly tart phenolic notes and texture. The residual sugar of less than a gram, which you can no longer taste, points the way to a Burgundian form of Silvaner. This is a wine with great potential. Give it time.
