Color
Bright golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
Nose
Due to its youth, the 2016 Sulzfelder Maustal Riesling GG still appears firm and closed on the nose, with compact minerality making itself felt. After sufficient aeration, which it needs, aromas of green apple, lime and citrus emerge. Coriander and mustard flour are paired with yeasty and resinous notes and fresh, almost ethereal notes of lemon balm, sorrel and mint let it appear fresh and playful despite all compactness.
Palate
On the palate, the 2016 Sulzfelder Maustal Riesling Großes Gewächs is dense and sharp. It presents itself with crisp acidity and pronounced spice, which again raises citrus and apple components in the reverberation. It will be extremely exciting over the next few years to follow the evolution of this wine, which already shines with beauty, density and verve. Patience is required and those who do not have it must decant this wine and not drink it too cold from a large glass.
