Wine details:
The Armenian family cultivates their 2 hectare Côtes du Rhône vineyards with gravelly and clayey soils with the same dedication as they do their Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. They are proud to have cultivated their vineyards organically for three decades. They rely on careful manual harvesting and only accept perfectly healthy grapes for the winemaking process. With the help of natural yeasts and through the process of daily pumping over, Sophie manages to extract a variety of fruit flavours from the Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes without making the wine too heavy. The wine matures in concrete tanks and is bottled after ten months.
Colour description:
The wine presents itself in a medium intense, clear red with a hint of blue.
Scent:
Despite its simplicity, this Côtes du Rhône wine captivates with its intensity on the nose. It smells seductively of alcea roseae, Provençal herbs such as sarriette and thyme, and captivates with the sweetness of red cherries, crushed raspberries and red plums.
Taste:
The wine impresses on the palate with its silky texture and beautiful volume. It seduces with juicy aromas of mainly pomegranate, subtle bittersweet notes and a hint of black pepper. Despite its impressive strength, it conveys a cosy, warming feeling in the mouth, showing considerable vitality and discreet freshness. The wine finishes with a slight saltiness, leaving behind unmistakably the masterful signature of the Armenian family. It tastes particularly good when served slightly chilled.
Alternatives to the menu suggestions:
Try it with grilled salmon, a cosy barbecue or stuffed courgettes with lentils and bulgur.
