Wine information
The white Châteauneuf of Marcoux accounts for only one hectare and around 3000 bottles per year. It consists of almost 70 percent Roussanne, an unusually high proportion. It grows in Les Esqueirons on limestone soil and was planted in 1987. It is complemented by just under 30 percent Bourboulenc from Les Bousquets, which is known for its fine acidity. In addition, there are grapes from individual Grenache Blanc and Clairette vines planted in mixed red parcels. The hand-picked whole grapes go immediately into the press. The must is pre-clarified and ferments spontaneously, mainly in stainless steel tanks at no more than 17°C. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is drawn off and then aged on the fine lees, but without stirring, partly in demi-muids of 600 litres, partly in stainless steel. Biological acid degradation is prevented. Bottling takes place after about 7 months.
Color
Beautiful brilliant gold with greenish reflections
Nose
Very intense, complex and at the same time pure and elegant fragrance of mirabelle plums, yellow peaches and apricots, joined by notes of chamomile flowers, almonds, garrigue and candied lemon zest.
Palate
From the beginning, the presence in the mouth is enormous. The wine fills every corner with opulent yellow fruit, notes of butter, roasted nuts and crème caramel as well as its creamy texture. The fine-grained structure, energy and minerality of the limestone terroir become increasingly evident, while the rather lush character of the Roussanne and the fine underlying freshness of the Bourboulenc combine in the very long finish to create great harmony and balance.
