Info about the wine
The Grillo grapes come from vines over 20 years old and grow west in Sicily, in Contrada, in Samperi and in Marsala on limestone and sandy loam.
Info about the expansion
Careful manual selection of the clusters and gentle pressing, followed by 48 hours of cool fermentation with the wine's own yeasts in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by 12 months of further ageing in French barriques with regular bâtonnage.
Color
Sparkling golden yellow with subtle copper reflections.
Nose
The 2019 Grappoli del Grillo smells of dried rosemary, thyme, sage and bay leaves, accompanied by ivy, lime blossom and elder wood. Wonderful fruity aromas of orange, honeydew melon and ripe pear in combination with sweet spices like cinnamon and star anise are also very present. An extremely distinctive, exciting and spicy wine announces itself here.
Palate
On the palate, it is sharp and fresh thanks to its striking minerality and refreshing acidity. Distinct salty notes further enhance the pleasantly challenging and stimulating character, while fine bitter notes in the finish have an extremely appealing effect. A wine that is virtually looking for the accompaniment of creative and purist cuisine!
