The grapes for the Eichhorn come from the Terlan site Lieben Aich and the Eichhorn vineyard, a south-western slope at 300m above sea level with soils of sandy loam on weathered prophyry. The Eichhorn 2020 could already be harvested on 25 August thanks to the warm spring and balanced summer. The destemmed grapes were left to macerate for eight hours before the must was spontaneously fermented in wood and matured on the fine lees for nine months.
Color
Light straw yellow with bright reflections.
Nose
Fragrant and floral, the 2020 Eichhorn Weissburgunder is reminiscent of a walk through a summer herb garden. White blossoms such as lime blossom and lilac in the top note are underlaid with garden herbs such as chervil or lemon balm. Added to this are delicately citrusy notes of lemon oil and pome fruits such as small yellow pears, apple peel and a handful of green hazelnuts.
Mouth
The Weissburgunder shines with clear fruit on the palate and combines its distinctive, cool fruit with straight acidity and firm extract. With the stature of an athlete, it rushes across the palate in a taut flow, always aromatically precise without an ounce of fat on its hips.
