Wine information
The wine is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc from vines planted in 2010 at Caudiès de Fenouillèdes in an organically farmed vineyard characterised by clay, limestone and some slate. After the hand harvest - the yield was around 30 hl/ha - the whole grapes were fermented spontaneously on the skins for 15 days. Afterwards, the wine was pressed and matured in concrete for a few months. It was bottled without fining and filtration, only with some filling sulphur.
Color
intense, almost amber gold with lees, especially when shaken
Nose
The Orange is a mash-fermented white wine that smells subtly of kumquats, apples, pears, broom and hay. If you shake up the yeast, the wine not only becomes cloudy, it also gets additional dimensions of sweet yeast, almonds and some hops.
Palate
On the palate, the orange-coloured sauvignon blanc of apples and apple peel, grapefruits including their peel, many herbs, lightly candied fruits and ginger. When shaken, a slightly sweet yeast note and some liquorice are added. The wine has a distinctive tannic grip and a lively but ripe acidity.
