Wine information

This Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine from the Melon de Bourgogne variety comes from a vineyard planted in 1974 in the village of Vallet. The vineyard is characterized by mica schist as well as gneiss with inclusions of mica from the Armoricain massif. The name of the vineyard is Vera Cruz.

The grapes, harvested by hand, were pressed in a pneumatic press, with the strength and duration of the pressing adapted to the vintage. This was followed by spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, then fermentation and ageing on the lees in underground, glass-lined cement cuves for seven months. No racking until bottling.

Color

intense straw yellow

Nose

The Vera Cruz opens with a fresh sea breeze of iodine and salt, which combine quite quickly with crisp, ripe and juicy notes of yellow apples, pure clover and almond nut. On top of that, there is a hint of pepper and white flowers.

Palate

On the palate the Vera Cruz Exciting and energetic in this vintage. The distinctly exotic note it had in 2018 has given way here to a slightly spicy, tobacco note, stone and some earth, as well as juicy white-fleshed fruit. It is a wine that betrays its origins not far from the sea and is crystalline, mineral and iodine until the long finish, possessing power but always appearing transparent.
