Wine information

Lou Bragalou is the Occitan name of the L'aphyllanthe de Montpellier, a flower typical of the Languedoc garrigue and one of Paola Ponsich's favorite growths. The white wine is a 100 %iger Grenache Blanc from a vineyard with vines around 30 years old. The vineyard is characterized by limestone gravel and large river pebbles with a high quartz content. After hand harvesting, 80 % were directly pressed and 20 % were fermented spontaneously as whole clusters. The aging was largely done in tank, the wine was filled unfined with 50 mg of sulfur.

Color

medium straw yellow

Nose

It is typical for Grenache Blanc that the grape variety shows itself rather restrained in the fragrance. The 2020 Lou Bragalou takes its time to offer notes of honeydew melon, lemon peel, a hint of anise, garrigue and firm pears along with their skins.

Palate

On the palate, there is a still restrained but deep power in this wine that shows an impressive amount of its fresh acidity. This interweaves very pleasantly in the melange of crisp yellow fruit, spices and herbs, stone and citrus notes. This creates a good balance of volume and acidity, the slight warmth of the alcohol and a fresh bright component.
