Info about the wine
Warm, wind-protected location between 310 and 345 m above sea level with southern and south-eastern exposure and different soils on diverse bedrock. In a confined space, old, crystalline rocks such as amphibolites, gneisses and mica schists alternate with much younger clay marls, sands and rare gravels deposited in the Paratethys sea about 16 million years ago.

Nose
The delicately matured nose of the 2018 Grüner Veltliner Ried Käferberg 1.ÖTW shows lots of yellow fruit of apricot, orange, peach, passion fruit and mango. Interwoven with elderberry, elderflower, ginger and ice candy. An exciting drop that you want to taste immediately. After longer contact with oxygen, notes of rye bread, walnut and liquorice are added, giving it a savoury touch.
Palate
Lots of fruit on the palate, delicate sweetness conveyed through the fruit and a creamy impression with fine acidity and clear spicy hints make it a fantastic food companion. An extremely complex wine, which particularly likes to be paired with strong vegetable preparations. It shows very good potential to mature further and is happy to be served in a carafe!
