Info about the wine

The interplay of climate and soil in the Danube region forms the basis for the character of this wine. Foothills of the Pannonian continental climate bring hot, dry days to the area. Cool air currents from the higher Waldviertel mix and "spice up" the air, which can be as hot as 38°C. On the one hand, there is Gföhler gneiss, the primary rock, with brown earth on top. Sometimes there is also a limestone layer in between. On the other hand, there is loess, fly ash from the Ice Age, which has compacted into fertile soil. And finally, there are the clay and gravel soils.

Vinification info

Selective hand harvest in September, maceration for a maximum of four hours, partial whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks for eight to twelve hours at a maximum of 20° C. Subsequent ageing in steel tanks on full lees for four months until the beginning of February and on fine lees for one month. Bottled in March 2021.

Nose

The aroma of the 2020 Riesling Kamptal DAC is juicy with poached pear, apricot, citrus and quince. After a little oxygen contact, fine almond, a hint of aniseed and almond join in. It is already clear - this wine works fantastically with delicious food!

Palate

Lively and fresh, with the same juicy fruit of the nose, it seduces with a lot of charm, precise acidity and fine saltiness on the tongue. Makes you want more and comes with only 11.5 Vol%. Everything is there for hours of enjoyment that will not stop at just one bottle.
