Info

Lieben Aich is located in Terlan. The site is at 300 m N.N. on a south-western slope. Sandy loamy soils as well as a subsoil of porphyry weathered rock provide the base. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are macerated for twelve hours on the press. Aroma and structure are extracted from the grape skins. The subsequent fermentation in large wooden barrels takes place spontaneously with natural yeasts. The maturation in the barrel takes place on the fine yeast for a whole ten months.

Color

Bright lemon yellow, greenish reflections

Nose

2019 Lieben Aich Sauvignon Blanc stands in contrast to grassy or cheesy wines from this aromatic variety. Rather, it is characterised by wet stones, a little flint and smoke, and a dark spiciness. Manincor's top Sauvignon has a seductively deep nose. Lime, orange blossom, orange zest, quince and mirabelle plum can be detected. Apricot and peach round off the yellow-fruited spectacle. A little marzipan and almond kernels. Quince tart and a little biscocho. Burnt meringue and lemon cake. Lemon balm and sage subtly buzz in the background. A very mature Sauvignon.

Palate

The Lieben Aich Sauvignon Blanc plays in a price class where it has to compete with the references of this grape variety in the wine world. It passes this comparison with flying colours. It is racy and has a lot of pressure on the palate. It seems much more grippy than initially expected. The yellow and green notes of the nose come out very well. The smoky hints as well as wet stones are clear and characterise the reverberation. Despite the hot climate, it is cool, mineral and elegant. With time, a very restrained melting in the finish develops, which has a very connecting effect between the elements. A Sauvignon Blanc for Riesling drinkers.
