Wine information

Vincent Laval himself describes Les Longues Violes as a mythical parcel, which was mentioned for the first time as early as 1461. Les Longues Violes is located on the slope slightly below Les Hautes Chèvres, covers less than a third of a hectare and, according to Laval, has the best terroir in the entire area. In 1947, a sélection massale planted by Meunier, one in 1964 and one in 1984. sélection massale of Pinot noir. The soil and the plants have never seen any chemicals. The 2012 vintage is the first that Vincent has vinified separately from this rare champagne. Spontaneously fermented and aged in wood for over a year, the first 480 bottles were disgorged on 13 November 2017 after four years. Each bottle was labelled by hand and packed in a wooden box.

Nose

Old vines with genetic diversity, an excellent site and the clay and limestone soil of the Les Longues Violes plot are found in this champagne, which is a paragon of power, clarity and terroir typicity. The pure style of the house is evident in the bouquet, where acidic citrus fruits and a hint of red fruit meet lime and earth, graphite and the hint of a bread crust. One has the feeling that the champagne has almost an excess of vitality and energy.

Mouth

When you are already at the Hautes Chèvres almost speechless by the power and density of the wine, the same is true with the Les Longues Violes The wine is even more condensed and expanded by the dimension of creaminess and generosity. This wine is bursting with energy and vibrating minerality. There is so much power and depth in this champagne, and at the same time so much delicacy and refinement, which is very rare. All of this can currently be sensed with the help of a large Burgundy glass and a lot of time. This champagne is - like all great champagnes - a wine for years, perhaps for decades.
