Update 11.05.2021
Color
The wine shows itself in bright lemon yellow with white-golden reflexes and fine perlage clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Many would say despite, but I am of the opinion precisely because of of the challenging 2014 vintage, the Laval family has once again created a mine of wine with so much to discover.
Made from Pinot Meunier vines planted between 1930 and 1971, this Blanc de Noirs presents a densely woven basket of delights with its bouquet.
Besides fruity components of candied pear, white currant and Andean berry, ethereal and fine spicy aromas of cornflower and yolk as well as hay, safflower oil and some cedar reveal themselves.
All in all, the one rests in itself and yet is subject to constant change.
Palate
The 2014 Les Hautes Chèvres Brut Nature from Georges Laval, from the Premier Cru Cumières, is as expressive on the nose as it is on the palate. Nevertheless, also here, it rests in itself and carries nothing before itself. Its filigree, yet vitalising perlage lines the mouth with a neat touch. It allows itself to be taken by the hand of the Blanc de Noirs and, visibly taken by the invigorating acidity, relinquishes control and gives itself up completely.
A wine that demands wine glasses that do it justice, can be enjoyed only too gladly as a soloist and invites one to contemplate.
