Wine information

This Champagne comes from a project that Bertrand Gautherot's son-in-law is realizing with grape producer friends. It is a Négociant project, where the vintners switched to organic and then to biodynamic cultivation. In the meantime, the vineyards have been Ecocert certified. The Champagne comes from the vineyard Les Grandes Lignes, which faces south, lies at about 234 meters and is densely planted with about 7,500 vines per hectare. The Champagne is a single varietal Chardonnay from a site with Portland limestone in the subsoil and clay and loam in the topsoil. The vineyard is located near Buxières-sur-Arce. Whole clusters were pressed, fermented spontaneously, aged in used 350- and 500-liter barrels, followed by 15 months of lees aging. The Brut Nature was disgorged on 18. 10. 2020.

Color

medium straw yellow with continuous perlage

Nose

The Les Grandes Lignes is a Champagne, whose cool background is warmed up with bright, fresh and yellow flecks. Lime, graphite and light yellow and green citrus notes, yellow kiwi and juniper form the base of this Chardonnay. On top are notes of white flowers, a little wood, further fresh almonds and a few leaves of dried oregano.

Palate

On the palate the Les Grandes Lignes an excellent tension, builds up pressure, but also has a ripe and yellow-fruity side. In this respect, it clearly distinguishes itself from the Les Revers which comes across much more sparse and even more powerful and high-toned. The Les Grandes Lignes strikes a wonderful balance between purism and hedonism. Although thanks to Brut Nature Bone dry, the yellow fruit nevertheless delivers a sensuously fine and yellow-fruited sweet vein through the body of lime and minerality.
