Color
In rich, dark purple with a violet rim and black core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
At first slightly reserved, this single-varietal Garnacha from a plantation from 1968 in the single vineyard Santa Martia de Leorin only slowly reveals the nature of its essence. It has a lot to tell about its homeland. Its fruit tends toward the dried in the form of dark plums and dried cherries, as well as cranberries and dried figs. A deep reach into the spice drawer complements with cinnamon bark, valerian and clove, as well as saffron, licorice and cocoa shell.
Palate
Rung by rung, it goes down sip by sip, because in terms of depth, the 2013 Vina de Leorin from Laderas de Montejurra has a lot to offer. Its dark berry fruit comes with immense facets and reflects on the palate multiple times from the skin, to the flesh, to the juice, to the core. The rich and powerful tannin of the Garnacha fifty-year-old vines literally grabs the connoisseur with kid gloves. On the one hand, it feels cuddly and silky, but on the other hand, it inevitably harbours impetuous tension and vehemence.
Leorin - warm and heavy in order.
