Information on the product
Santa Goccia is a triumphant three grape blend that masterfully showcases 70 % Sangiovese, 20 % Canaiolo and 10 % Trebbiano. This red wine, which corresponds to the historic Chianti blends, now adorns itself as Toscana Rosso, due to rule changes. The late autumn harvest, coupled with meticulous handcrafting, result in a remarkable natural fermentation. Five months in steel tank ageing and a further eight months in bottle contribute to its remarkable structure. The origin of these delicious grapes is an almost half-century-old vineyard in Barberino Val d'Elsa at around 250 metres above sea level, known for its rich alluvial and skeletal soils, sandy soil, clay and tufa.
The colour of Santa Goccia is a transparent ruby red that subtly reflects light.
This 2019 Tuscan, is an ambassador of freshness and juiciness. At the forefront is the seductive sweetness of sour cherries, red currants and cranberries, complemented by a hint of meatiness and a light smoky tone. Although this wine has not undergone any wood ageing, one senses the presence of sweet yeast and dried herbs.
On the palate, Santa Goccia unfolds all its charm. Ripe, aromatic raspberries, cherries and wild strawberries dominate the taste spectrum. A strong tannin and a punchy acidity characterise this wine that makes the heart of a traditional Chianti beat. An honest and unvarnished wine that captures the true taste of Tuscany with its purity.
This wine harmonises perfectly with a variety of dishes. Enjoy it with a hearty lentil soup with thyme, bruschetta with duck liver or Italian salume such as salami with anise or bresaola.
