Info

Le Grand Blanc from the 2019 vintage is based on a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 10% Roussanne, 10% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Ugni Blanc and 5% Rolle. All vines run under the IGP Méditerranée origin. After the manual harvest, all grapes are destemmed. 30% of the production are fermented in steel tanks at 18°C. 40% are fermented in new and used oak barrels and left on the lees for ten months. The yeasts are stirred regularly. No sulphur is added to the barrels. The final 30% are fermented in large wooden barrels and concrete eggs with their natural yeasts.

Nose

On the nose, the 2019 Le Grand Blanc shows its southern origins. Warm, open and inviting. Toasted almond kernels, almond blossom and wet stone make the start. In the second row, butterscotch and biscocho join the round of flavours. Tarte Tatin and Quince Tarte deliver pome fruit in caramelised and warmly scented form. A little yeast dough and a smoky note. Apricots and nectarines as dried fruit round off the nose combined with some lemon balm and lime zest.

Palate

On the palate, it follows exactly the same path. The aromas and associations of the nose can be found again. But on the palate, it is also much tighter, stonier and cooler. With a pleasant creaminess, it provides fullness on the palate without seeming heavy. The acidity breaks through this wonderfully again and again. This fine but present acid structure carries it for a long time on the palate. In the aftertaste, it is literally nailed down. The nuances of cinnamon, baked apple and lemon zest make you reminisce about southern Burgundy. With this wine, we are not that far away from it sensorially...
